Materiel enterprise recognizes 'best of best' workers | Military Scene


Twenty-two employees across the Army Materiel Command enterprise are receiving recognition for missions they accomplished in the fourth quarter of 2020 and the first quarter of 2021.
The employees, including logistics management specialists, contracting officers and program analysts, received AMC’s Employee of the Quarter honors for their work going above and beyond to meet deadlines and exceed expectations. They represent AMC’s “best of the best” employees across the world.
“Our workforce is the foundation of all we do at Army Materiel Command,” Maj. Gen. Bob Harter, AMC’s chief of staff, said. “The Employee of the Quarter awards allow us to recognize the outstanding contributions and impactful performance of those who have gone above and beyond. These great leaders set the example for others to follow.” ....

DVIDS - News - USAG Japan in-person recognition program improves employee confidence, pride

CAMP ZAMA, Japan (May 21, 2021) – An employee’s offhand comment in the U.S. Army Garrison Japan housing warehouse set in motion a program that has since recognized the excellence of hundreds of workers here.
Col. Thomas Matelski, commander of USAG Japan, said he was touring garrison facilities soon after he took command in July 2019 when a worker told him, “This is the first time that I’ve seen one of the senior leaders in a while.”
The comment stuck in his mind, Matelski said, and he began thinking of ways he could get out and see the garrison’s team of more than 3,000 employees across USAG Japan’s 15 sites and facilities across Japan. He decided to recognize employees in person based on positive Interactive Customer Evaluation comments. ....

DVIDS - News - USAG Stuttgart welcomes new commander

STUTTGART, Germany U.S. Army Garrison Stuttgart welcomed Col. Matt Ziglar as its new commander during a change of command ceremony at Patch Barracks’ historic Washington Square, Wednesday, May 19.
He replaced Col. Jason Condrey, who led the garrison as Stuttgart and the rest of the world was struck by the COVID-19 pandemic. Now with the aid of vaccines and mitigation measures, Ziglar aims to transition the garrison to a post-coronavirus reality and a full-reopening.
“The world has changed as a result of the pandemic, but at the end of the day, we will return to a new normal that everybody can look forward to,” he said. “Reopening dining in, shopping, travel and all of the services that we expect from the garrison is our first priority.” ....

FORT KNOX, Ky. Custodial services at multiple Army installations, including Fort Knox, were recently reduced for budgetary reasons, raising some concerns for nonprofits like Global Connections to Employment.
GCE employs people with disabilities and veterans, giving folks who may struggle to find work a chance to live more independently. The nonprofit has been on base at Fort Knox for about a decade and currently employs 103 people. ....
