Ohio Issue 2 legalizes the purchase, possession, and cultivation of marijuana by adults 21 and over. It also creates a tax and regulatory framework for commercial cultivation and retail marijuana sales.
Ohioans are weighing-in on whether they will become the twenty-fourth state in the union to legalize recreational marijuana. Although Ohio's abortion rights amendment has captured the most national media attention, Issue 2 on the Buckeye state's ballot this year would allow individuals over age 21 to posses up to 2.5 ounces of cannabis and up to 15 grams of marijuana concentrates. Individuals would also be allowed to grow up to six personal marijuana plants, with a household limit of up to 12.
Issue 2, an initiative that would legalize recreational marijuana for people over 21 in Ohio, is on the ballot in next Tuesday’s election.
The ballot’s language makes it clear it does not require an employer to “accommodate an employee’s use, possession, or distribution of adult use cannabis.”
Small hemp purveyors, like Cincinnati company It's Not Weed, hope to compete with big businesses if Issue 2 passes.
