Before the january 6th hearing got started. something involving the person who ended up being at the center of today s hearing, alongside president trump. we are going to get some help now from a reporter who knows the story inside out. and from a former u.s. attorney who knows how these things work. but let s reset before we do that, with some of the basics. just before today s hearing, we learned that federal investigators have conducted a predawn search of trump justice official jeff clark. as the new york times put it, quote, one of clark s associates described a dramatic scene, early wednesday morning, when it doesn t federal law enforcement officials raided the house, ceased mr. clark s electronic devices and put him out on the street in his pajamas. even before the dramatic narrative offered by today s witnesses much of which was about mr. clark we knew about the scheme that clark and president trump had been cooking up. trump would get rid of the attorney general and instal ....
