Children enter the WOW Wagon on Wednesday, July 14, 2021 in Jackson, Tenn. The READ Team, traveled to three different locations on Wednesday allowing children to wonder in the mobile library and select two books of their choice.
As Regional Interfaith Association’s (RIFA) Bus Stop Café pulls into The Villages of Old Hickory apartment complex, the driver takes a trip around the complex periodically honking the horn to alert the children living there of their arrival.
While the big colorful bus is making its presence known, there’s another colorful vehicle getting set up for work with the children of the area as well. It’s The Read Team and their WOW (Words on Wheels) Wagon.

JACKSON, Tenn. — Have you ever read a book that made you say “wow!”? That’s what The Read Team is hoping their new “Words on Wheels” will do this summer.
“It’s a practical way we can get books in the homes. That’s one of they key factors in learning how to read, having books around the home,” said James Christoferson, program director for The Read Team.
The “WOW” trailer can fit thousands of books for all grade levels — everything from picture books to “Nancy Drew.” And it was named by Alexander Elementary’s own Principal Carolyn Caldwell.
