Sherow is a professor in the department of history at kansas state university. He specializes in researching and teaching environmental history, kansas history, and the history of the american west. Professor sherow has written six books and numerous articles, including Railroad Empire across the heartland, rephotographing Alexander Gardners westward journey, which is a familiar resource for the staff and volunteers at the watkins.
