Contractor and the dozer was one of 60 been used to clear brush, make containment lines and roads. This fire is 10 contained. Its been burning for a week south of carmel in a mountainous area. Firefighters have been working in the steep terrain. Crews were reminded about the importance of being safe. These incidents stretch on and fatigue starts to set in. And fatigue can affect judgment. And it makes everything hindered. We as firefighters have to be very diligent about making sure that fatigue is managed and that were getting plenty of rest, food, water, so we can fight off those factors. They work so hard and its just heartbreaking when you hear that one of them has lost their life over this. Reporter this is the second time a dozer operator has died in a fire in the same region. In 2007, a dozer rolled over, killing the operator. Residents remain worried about the homes. 2000 homes are still threatened.
