Aung San Suu Kyi detained in coup Myanmar’s military has taken control of the country after army officers detained Aung San Suu Kyi and other senior figures in morning raids on Monday. The army is claiming that last November’s election, in which the National League for Democracy won 83% of the vote, was fraudulent. It has declared a state of emergency for one year. Military commander-in-chief Min Aung Hlaing is now in charge of the country.
