Revolution, they believed in the power of prayer to god, and thats why they prayed during that time, but they wanted much to have the chance to worship as they chose. Be they muslim, hindu. But especially judeochristian beliefs where jews and christians had traditionally suffered so much persecution. They wanted the chance for people to worship as they please or not worship, but they knew to make that possible had he had to they had to pray to god.
