PFL welterweight Rory MacDonald has vowed to never fight in New Jersey again following his controversial loss to Gleison Tibau.
MacDonald’s comments come after he was on the wrong end of one of the most criticized judging decisions in MMA history at PFL 5 last month.
Having dominated Curtis Millender in his first appearance of the season, the former Bellator Welterweight World Champion moved on to face Tibau. Despite appearing to have cruised to a comfortable victory over the Brazilian veteran, the MMA community was sent into a state of shock after a split decision went against MacDonald. The 38-year-old even admitted his initial surprise at being awarded the win.

New Jersey commission overturns Renan Ferreira's controversial win over Fabricio Werdum

The New Jersey Athletic Control Board has overturned Renan Ferreira’s controversial win over Fabricio Werdum at PFL 3.
Werdum headlined the card and just seconds into the fight, he got the fight to the ground. He then threatened a triangle choke and it looked like it was tight, but Ferreira landed ground and pound and got the first-round KO win over Werdum.
However, the former UFC heavyweight champion in Werdum claimed Ferreira tapped and when they showed the replay it looked like that was the case.
“I think everyone saw the fight. He tapped,” Werdum said in his post-fight interview. “I have to respect my opponent. … I stopped because he tapped. I’ve fought for 23 years. When he taps with an open hand, I have to stop. In my mind, it was over because I felt him tap my shoulder.”

The main event result of PFL 3 between Renan Ferreira and Fabricio Werdum, originally a TKO victory for Ferreira, was overturned after a controversial no-call that changed the trajectory of the fight.
The heavyweight contest appeared to be over after Werdum locked Ferreira into a triangle choke from the bottom position about halfway into the first round and Ferreira tapped Werdum’s shoulder with his right hand twice, acknowledging a submission.
The referee however did not see this action. Ferreira subsequently escaped Werdum’s choke and landed substantial hammerfists that led to the TKO finish.
