you know? like the scourge of drugs and violence, man. it is just absolutely pervasive. >> so do you see that in your neighborhood here? >> i see it up and down the block every night. and you know, i can't afford to live anywhere else, man. you know what i mean? >> i mean, i feel like he personally feels kind of broken. and he's, like millions of people in this country, he'll go through it on a daily basis. >> what do you say we go this way, huh? >> yeah. >> but just because opportunity has drifted so far out of john's reach, does it have to be the same story for his son shawn? after all, without the promise that things will improve for the next generation, where does that leave us? >> there has to be a breaking point that isn't just poor people. you know, the question is what can we do? >> i don't know if it's through taxes or charity. >> i think we'd all love to get paid more. >> more jobs need to be created here. >> more affordable housing. >> affordable health care. >> access to good education. >> perhaps tax those who have
