Police find £14,000-worth of cannabis in Wiltshire man's shed

A CANNABIS warehouseman was caught with almost £14,000-worth of the class B drug in his garden shed, a court heard.
Ieuan Davies, who began smoking cannabis when he was 13 years old, told police he had been storing the drugs for a friend – who he did not name.
The 29-year-old also admitted preparing the drugs for the anonymous friend by stripping leaves from the buds so the plants could be sold on the street.
Sentencing Davies to five months imprisonment suspended for 18 months, Judge Peter Crabtree said: “This was a serious offence in which a reasonable quantity of cannabis was left in your shed for safety reasons. You were entrusted with it and you played a part in preparing it for your friend to deal. ....

Drunk jailed after biting new girlfriend and stamping on her head

A DRUNKEN lout who bit and stamped on his new girlfriend has been jailed – after a judge pulled stumps on the man’s deferred sentence.
Kevin Wolton had not long been released from prison when he struck up a relationship with the woman as they stayed in the same bed and breakfast in April last year.
Their five-day relationship ended on April 29 after Wolton subjected his new partner to a prolonged assault in which he stamped on her head and bit her ankle.
Last November, Judge Peter Crabtree deferred sentence for six months after hearing that the 38-year-old defendant was remorseful, had beaten an alcohol addiction while on remand and was committed to changing his ways. ....

A nightclubber who lashed out with his fist after another reveller used a racist slur has been spared an immediate spell behind bars.
The racist remark was directed at Andre Gooden while he was “peacocking” with other man at the Casbah nightclub in April 2019, Swindon Crown Court heard.
Gooden, 34, punched the man in face – breaking his jaw. Later interviewed by detectives, he told them: “F racist s trying to get me arrested. But I’m going to f him up, p .”
Sentencing him to 12 months’ imprisonment suspended for 18 months, Judge Peter Crabtree acknowledged the man had been provoked but added: “You simply cannot take the law into your own hands in that way.” ....

Deferred sentence for Swindon drug runner caught selling to undercover cop

A drug runner has been given three months to stay on the straight and narrow – or face a prison sentence.
Gary Steptoe, 41, was one of dozens of low-level dealers and runners snared in a 2019 undercover police operation that saw officers pose as addicts to make test purchases across Swindon.
Prosecutor Ellie Sheahan told Swindon Crown Court on Tuesday that officers called the Ramsay drug line on May 28. An officer, “Steve”, was directed to Stratton and met by Steptoe, who supplied him with crack cocaine and heroin.
Steptoe, of Ringwood Close, Park North, pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing to two counts of supplying a class A drug. ....

Egerton was said to have been in such a bad way last year that he had begged his lawyers to get his case listed so he could be sent inside.
The 33-year-old, who is now on a prescription for a class A drug substitute and has rekindled his relationship with his family, admitted supplying class A drugs and being concerned in supplying drugs.
