MUMBAI: A ward-wise breakup shows 36% of active Covid-19 cases in the city continue to be restricted to five wards of Mumbai’s suburbs, which include Andheri, Vile Parle East, Borivli, Kandivli and Bhandup. Cases in the five wards total 1,898 compared with 5,267 as on July 27, 2020.
Meanwhile, A, B and C, the three wards in south Mumbai that comprise areas from Colaba to Bhuleshwar, currently have the fewest cases; B Ward (Dongri) has just eight active cases, according to civic data.
K-West and K-East, on the other hand, are the two wards that had the highest concentration of active cases even when the second wave was at its peak in May this year.

BMC files FIR against actor Gauhar Khan for flouting Covid-19 protocol | Mumbai News

MUMBAI: The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation's (BMC) K-west ward on Monday filed an FIR against model and actor Gauhar Khan for flouting Covid-19 protocol.
Civic officials said that despite testing positive for the virus, she had stepped out for film shooting.
Assistant municipal commissioner of K-west ward Vishwas Mote said, "Our staff had visited Khan's home on March 11 and she gave an undertaking that she would not step outside the house."
"However, despite this, we received a complaint that she was moving around putting her and others' life in danger."

Sonu Sood to restore Juhu building status to residential from hotel | Mumbai News

MUMBAI: Following a rap from Bombay high court and after withdrawing his petition before Supreme Court, actor Sonu Sood has agreed to restore the “unauthorised” six-storey Shiv Sagar building in Juhu from a hotel to residential premises. Sood’s architects have submitted a proposal to BMC to restore the change of user of the Juhu building back to residential, which Sood had allegedly converted into a hotel without necessary permission from BMC.
When contacted, Sood said he will follow all the rules.
Paarth Architectural Consultants have submitted the revised plans to BMC’s building proposal (BP) department.
“In continuation with the approval granted by then Municipal Commissioner Praveen Pardeshi on 07.02.2020 and in the interim period before submitting the proposal to the MCZMA for their NOC, on the request of Sonu Sood, the owners of the said premises, we are in the process of compiling necessary details for submitting revised plans to the BP department,” the consultants said in their recent letter to BMC. “Regularization of various elevation features and internal addition/alterations carried out in the existing 1st to 6th floors are now proposed for residential user,” the letter further stated.

MUMBAI: The BMC on Sunday continued its crackdown against restaurants, bars and pubs for violating Covid-19 norms that began over the weekend filing FIRs against three bars and pubs in Andheri (west).
According to BMC officials, bars and pubs with dance floors were found violating Covid-19 protocols of social distancing, crowd control and face masks the most.
The BMC’s K-West ward filed an FIRs against Amethhyyst Lounge Bar, Arbour 28 and Club Illusions for violating Covid-19 norms. All the three clubs are located in the Veera Industrial Estate in the T-Series Lane in Andheri (west).
