The Devastation of Jamal Murray’s Injury Spreads Jagged and Wide
The Nuggets had legitimate title aspirations entering Monday’s action. Then their star point guard—and those championship hopes—suffered a cruel twist of fate. Can Denver salvage its season?

I was out of the room when it happened. When I came back, there were too many bodies crowding the screen to see who’d gone down on the baseline. As soon as the huddle thinned, though, any hope I’d had that it was a false alarm quickly dissipated. Because that was Jamal Murray down there.

Game Rewind: Pacers 115, Clippers 126

Game Recap The Pacers hung tight with Paul George and the Clippers for much of Tuesday night, trading blows at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in a shootout with one of the NBA's best teams. But the Clippers (38-18) found an extra gear in the fourth quarter, pulling away for a 126-115 win over Indiana. The loss snapped a three-game win streak for the Pacers (25-28), who remain in

BIG reason why.
Fresh off being named Western Conference Player of the Week, George carried that momentum into the game against his former team, the Indiana Pacers, pouring in 36 points, eight assists, seven rebounds and two steals in a 126-115 win - their sixth in a row.

Paul George's throbbing toe was not only limiting his performance on the court recently, but the LA Clippers guard could feel it dragging him down mentally.

Three Takeaways from the LA Clippers' Win over the Indiana Pacers

Three Takeaways from the LA Clippers' Win over the Indiana Pacers
Paul George drops yet another 30-peice as the Clippers win their sixth straight.
Author:
It’s safe to say Paul George is in a bit of a groove.
On a night where the LA Clippers overcame the Indiana Pacers by a score of 126-115, George dropped his fourth-consecutive 30+-point performance, scoring 36 points on 13-25 shooting and filling the box score with seven rebounds, eight assists and two steals.
LA needed such a performance out of George to earn the win, as the game was much tighter than the final box score would indicate. Through three quarters, LA only led by three, 100-97. Pacers All-Star Domantas Sabonis (20 points, 13 rebounds) was a matchup nightmare for the Clippers, as he was too quick for Ivica Zubac and too big for Patrick Patterson. Additionally, LA’s rim protection was nonexistent beyond Nicolas Batum (more on that later), and former Rookie of the Year Malcolm Brogdon (team-high 29 points) went 5-6 in the painted area as a result.

Jaylen Brown scored 24 points and Kemba Walker contributed 21 points, eight rebounds and seven assists as Boston won for the fourth straight game and sixth time in the past seven. Robert Williams III added 16 points and seven rebounds and Marcus Smart had 13 points and seven assists.
Damian Lillard posted 28 points and 10 assists, and Carmelo Anthony scored 25 points on 10-of-15 shooting for the Trail Blazers. Norman Powell added 20 points and CJ McCollum had 16 points as Portland lost for the fifth time in the past seven games.

Clippers vs. Pistons: Preview, game thread, lineups, start time

The Clippers’ next opponent will look very familiar, and that’s not because there are so many Pistons on L.A.’s roster that Dwane Casey called them “Detroit West”. Three days after facing off in Los Angeles, the Clippers and Pistons are meeting up again in the Motor City.
The main difference this time? Availability.
Paul George hasn’t played both nights of a back-to-back in a month, and that came when he had only played 23 minutes in the first game. George logged 38 minutes last night, so an encore seems unrealistic, though Kawhi Leonard could return to spell his superstar comrade since he did make the trip with the team. On the other side, Jerami Grant is set to return for Detroit after being out for a week; he’ll be facing the Clippers for the first time since the Nuggets defeated L.A. in the western conference semifinals.

The veteran big man is having a monster season and a massive impact on this young Grizzlies team

The shift to position-less basketball in the NBA is officially here to stay, and the Memphis Grizzlies were arguably the last team to buy into the trend, as they hung onto the Core Four as long as they feasibly could — which, in terms of contending for titles, might have been two seasons too late.
When the inevitable was finally staring the Memphis front office in the face, they opted to trade the best player in franchise history. It was not the easiest choice, but they did right by Marc Gasol, sending him to the Toronto Raptors, which led to an eventual title that season.

Striking Quality and Quantity beyond the Arc

The Memphis Grizzlies have been hot from deep in April, while maintaining an appropriate amount of shot attempts. Let’s look at what quality and quantity of shots mean for this team and the NBA’s landscape.

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- In one of their rare nationally televised games this season, the Indiana Pacers will try to win their fourth straight game, playing at home against the Los Angeles Clippers.
The Pacers are coming off a 132-125 win on Sunday against the Grizzlies in Memphis. Scoring 132 is a big step up from their season average of 113.5 points per game. The Pacers, over their last three games, have averaged scorching hot 128 points per game.

Christian Wood is primed for a big outing tonight.
See below for a breakdown of value plays for tonight’s slate of games on Fan Duel by FantasyPros.
Christian Wood (HOU) $7,500
Wood could be facing a Turner-less Pacers squad, but even if the talented center does suit up, Wood’s salary is far too low. The big man has averaged 39.2 FanDuel points per game (FDPPG) on the year, good for 5.2x value, and he’ll play in what should be a high-scoring game, as these teams both rank top-seven in pace. It helps that the Pacers surrender the sixth-most FDPPG to centers.

Kawhi Leonard (sore right foot) will not be playing against the Pacers
Kawhi Leonard will not be playing against the Indiana Pacers due to a sore right foot.
Leonard had just missed the last game against the Detroit Pistons due to rest, so it's a bit unexpected that he's missing another because of a sore right foot. There was no inclination that Leonard was suffering from any soreness prior to this, so it'll be interesting to see where it occurred. This will be the 11th game that Kawhi Leonard has missed this season.
The team will continue to be without both Serge Ibaka and Patrick Beverley for this road trip as well; the Clippers will be missing three starters.

Mike Watters-USA TODAY Sports
So far, the San Antonio Spurs are passing the most difficult week of the season with flying colors, including taking care of business and putting the rebuilding Orlando Magic away early in emphatic fashion. The Spurs needed a few minutes to get their feet underneath them, but once they did there was no stopping them as they kept their foot on the pedal throughout and never looked back on their way to a 120-97 win that wasn’t really that close.
