All in starts right now. Good evening from new york. Im chris hayes. It was a big day for the future of american democracy. We will get to that significant action in a moment, but before we do, just give me a second to go back to the context of what happened in the last election. I think it has been obscured by the sabotage and disinformation and violent insurrection unlike anything weve seen in the history of the country stoked by the former president. Remember this, last november, right, once in a cent ray pandemic, we got a glimpse of what a full or fuller participation version of our democracy would look like because due to the pandemic, state after state, jurisdiction after jurisdiction, and i should note this is both democratic and republican there were fights over this. But across the board, more or less on the whole in the aggregate, all these places did something praise worthy and novel. They took steps to make it easier to vote. They did this by expanding eligibility for mail ....
Change him . To discuss these issues and more, im joined by my guest, nick brown and washington. He is a National Coordinator with the movement for a Peoples Party also in washington. We have arvind balrog, he is a former Libertarian Party president ial candidate, as well as author of the book, pull out men modern life and mutiny. And in montreal we have lauren chen. She is a you tuber and host of pseudo intellectual. All right, cross up rules in effect, that means you can jump in anytime you want and i was appreciate it. Ok, its going to lauren 1st here. Im just very broadly speaking. How has this election changed the political environment . Because theres so much focus on trump, all of the time that is kind of crowded out, some of the interesting results of disallow action here. The g. O. P. Did it remarkably w ....
And that because your point on bonds. Right now we have the 10 year yield backing up six basis points on the week, up 14 basis points. The worst week for bonds going back to august. Bonds selling off. That pushes yields higher on the idea there is some kind of recovery happening around the stimulus. It is going to be interesting to see whether or not the 10 year yield can break out of this range. David we will have to watch that carefully. We knew the job numbers would not reflect all of the covid surge, but we did not expect them to be showing downward trend before the covid came roaring back. To take us through what the numbers may indicate we welcome douglas holtzeakin, president of American Action forum. He earlier served as director of the Congressional Budget Office as well as chief economist under president george w. Bush. Great to have you back with us. ....
Considering all of the predictions of doom and gloom. And then we see that the, the coalition that was behind joe biden, its quite fragile right now. And if you look at the demographic vote voting demographics, a lot of surprises there too. Going to the g. O. P. So what are your major takeaways in this postmortem of this election . Well, i think the 1st thing to note is that, you know, of course the election has not officially been called yet. Electors do not vote in this ember 48. Just have to put that disclaimer out there. You know, of course press is still calling for biden, but trump does have legal challenges regarding the partys having right now. Both of them are much more divided than i think they ever have been with the democrats, we have course, have the establishment more moderate people like joe biden, even though i hesitate to call him a moderate nowadays. But you also have the more progressive branch of the democrats, people like a. S. C. Even his running mate come on, har ....
