Strong Arm Robber Brawls With Loss Prevention Officer Police didn't say where the altercation took place, but it ended up with a Loss Prevention Officer taking an injury to their hand. Saturday Kennewick Officers say this man walked to the checkout counter with several hundred dollars worth of merchandise. KPD However, after being told how much it cost, he then allegedly tried to walk out with the goods, right past the checkout counter. However a Loss Prevention Officer (LPO) derailed him. Then, a scuffle broke out as the suspect engaged in a physical confrontation with the person. Police didn't say if the man got out with the good or not, but he fled outside on foot, then left in a smaller black car, unknown model. The LPO sustained the minor hand injury.
A Kennewick man is in jail after rolling a stolen vehicle Thursday morning. 34-year old Alexander Edwards faces multiple charges, including possession of a stolen vehicle, suspicion of Driving Under the Influence and Driving with a Suspended License. Witnesses say Edwards was speeding and driving erratically in the stolen City of Richland vehicle before rolling and crashing it on I-82 at Coffin Road. Benton County Sheriff's Deputies and Washington State Patrol Troopers responded to the crash just after 5 am. Troopers estimate Edwards was traveling at approximately 80 mph when he lost control. Edwards was taken into custody and transported to a local hospital for his injuries. However, Edwards fled the hospital on foot.
Drug Suspect Dies in Back of Patrol Car, Investigation Begun Around 1:30PM Tuesday, Dec. 15th, Kennewick Officers were called to the area near Walmart, the 4000 block of West 27th. near Highway 395. A caller told police they'd seen a man inside a car, rolling around, and possibly using narcotics. Upon arrival officers saw the man, who was 25-years old, inside the vehicle (parked), using suspected narcotics. He was contacted by the officers, according to Lt. Aaron Klem of the KPD, and was conscious. While officers conducted a preliminary investigation, the man was handcuffed and seated in the back seat of one of the patrol cars, which is often standard procedure in situations such as this.
