Language wars have been a regular feature of Indian discourse. The issue took centre stage recently with Bollywood superstar Ajay Devgn and Makkhi actor Kichcha Sudeepa entered into a Twitter spat regarding the same.
Ajay Devgn had tagged Sudeep on Twitter saying, "Hindi was, is and always will be our national language." Sudeep's replies, also noting how Devgn had used the Devanagari script, has received backing from many.

The old slogan 'Unity in Diversity' needs to be revived in spirit - for languages too. And for that, there needs to be a respect for all the languages in this incredible country. No language is more equal than any other.
