C&A launches two new coatings

Coatings & Adhesives Corporation (C&A) has launched Corban, an anti-microbial product developed for a wide range of label and packaging materials, and Deter BT, a bitter-tasting coating product.
‘The development of the Corban AM anti-microbial coating technology will add significant value and functionality to customers and brand owners,’ commented Steve Burleson, business manager label products, coatings, and adhesives sales and market segment at C&A. ‘We are committed to keeping customers at the forefront of technology and consumer demand, through the development of new products, such as the Corban anti-microbial UV LED and WB coating line.’
C&A has also released Deter BT, a bitter-tasting coating line for labels and consumer packaging that imparts a bitter taste to coated products to deter children from chewing or eating print and packaging components. ....

Abbott Label installs Domino K600i dual bar digital UV inkjet printer

Abbott Label has increased its digital printing capacity with the installation of the Domino K600i dual bar digital UV inkjet printer. This purchase joins Abbott’s existing Domino N610i digital UV inkjet press, purchased in February 2020, and Abbott’s HP Indigo WS6600.
Upon the first Domino installation, John Abbott, president of Abbott Label said, ‘We have been completely satisfied with the HP, but we wanted to jump into the inkjet market as we believe it better serves the markets we sell into. We are presented with many consecutive bar code opportunities. In some instances, we are unable to capture those with the HP. Our costing models with the Domino have led us to believe we can be extremely competitive on consecutive bar code work. We expect that the Domino will make us better equipped to respond to our customers’ needs. We will be going after numbering jobs and high color long runs without needing plates.’ ....

Links Labels & Tapes opts for Truepress Jet SAI S

UK label manufacturer and printer Links Labels & Tapes has invested in the Screen Truepress Jet L350UV SAI S 5-color to respond to a market need for shorter lead times and increase color consistency across its production.
When choosing the technology to invest in, Links Labels & Tapes ran extensive tests with various inkjet press providers. The new machine, the first of this type sold in the UK, provides the color consistency and print speed required to meet its customers’ expectations.
‘The Screen Truepress SAI S 5-colour came out as the winner because labels printed on this machine look flatter and vibrant,’ commented Darren Dutton, managing director of Links Labels & Tapes. ‘We are proud of our reputation and don’t accept anything less than top-quality labels. Initially, we didn’t think inkjet could meet our quality standards. However, we found that the Screen Truepress Jet SAI S 5-color does. Gietz and Vinfoil join forces

Swiss Gietz and Dutch Vinfoil, along with Chris Leary and Alex Balke, have joined forces to create Gietz-Vinfoil Americas. The company, based near Chicago, will be responsible for the sales and service of Gietz and Vinfoil machines in the region.
Gietz, a Swiss-based company founded in 1892, has experience in the US market since the late 70s with around 150 machines installed.
‘The Gietz brand is recognized for precision foil stamping and embossing, and along with our HTF tray forming machine, we believe there is a lot of future potential in this market. We started to offer customers direct local services with Alex Balke of Gietz USA in 2018. Now with Chris’ leadership and Vinfoil products, we are positioned to offer the complete range of foil embellishment solutions.
