Scientists from South Africa developed nature-based solutions to fight drought on water resources. Nature-based solutions such as preventing alien tree infestation on mountains have been proven to be a viable alternative in reducing the impact of climate change on drought, particularly concerning low river flows, according to a new study.
The findings, which were published in the journal Landscape Ecology, show that upstream forests' greater water use may leave less water downstream for forests, towns, and animals during a drought.
