The proposal re-establishes a school board in Gary on July 1, 2023, whose seven members would be appointed entirely by Indiana Secretary of Education Katie Jenner.
The governor's proposed two-year state budget includes $9.8 million to construct an on-site fuel distribution facility at the Gary/Chicago International Airport.
The near-total abortion ban likely will remain unenforceable for the near future after a judge found the statute runs afoul of Indiana's Religious Freedom Restoration Act.
