Crude devices no doubt, unreliable thank goodness and not nearly as deadly as they could be. A picture of the bomb rigged to a toy car that the killers tried but failed to detonate in the Inland Regional Center where they took 14 lives. They are pieces of an ugly mosaic that could include wider ties to organized international terrorism. We may learn more when authorities brief reporters, already, though, we have learned plenty.
