Published December 21. 2020 8:20PM Stonington Tax Collector Linda Camelio is reminding residents that they have until Jan. 29, 2021, to apply for a deferral of the second installment of their annual real estate, personal property and motor vehicle supplemental taxes. The program, which was the result of an executive order by Gov. Ned Lamont, is meant to benefit taxpayers who need a deferral due to furlough, layoff, business closure or other circumstances related to COVID-19 pandemic that have caused them financial hardship. Applicants must provide a simple explanation of their need for the deferral as well as a signature swearing the information is true. Delinquent taxes do not qualify for deferral. ....
