MBC on the grid for Extreme E

As the off-road electric race championship draws ever closer to its grand green light, the Middle East’s leading extreme sports and adventure satellite channel, MBC ACTION has confirmed that it will televise all five of the series’ X Prixs across its territories in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.
The series will feature electric SUVs competing in extreme environments around the world – in Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Greenland, Brazil and Patagonia, places which have all been affected by the climate crisis - and is geared towards highlighting the impact of climate change and human interference in some of the most remote parts of the world. As well as highlighting a variety of environmental issues including, desertification, rising sea levels, glacier retreat, deforestation and ice melt, the series hopes to raise awareness of the climate emergency by mixing sport with purpose to inspire change. ....

Extreme E to air on DAZN in Japan

In the event’s second broadcaster announcement in 24 hours, the Extreme E electric off-road racing series has confirmed live and on-demand streaming sports channel DAZN as its Japanese broadcaster.

FunBox UHD launches on Pyur in Germany

Continuing to expand its footprint across Western Europe with key partnerships in the region, SPI/FilmBox and one of Germany’s leading fibre network operators, Pyur, have signed a distribution deal for SPI’s FunBox UHD.
FunBox UHD offers premium native Ultra HD programming dedicated to entertainment and lifestyle acquired from top producers and distributors around the globe. The deal will see the channel available both on Pyur’s linear channel and, in the future, on-demand content available on Pyur’s services in Germany. It will be available to all Pyur Advance TV subscribers at no additional costs.
“With FunBox UHD, we are providing our customers with another channel in UHD quality, further pursuing our goal of offering Pyur customers new and varied content on our network,” said Stefan Riedel, chief consumer officer at Pyur parent Tele Columbus AG. ....

FreeCast taps Zixi to distribute live linear services

As it expands the reach of its video-on-demand (VOD) and pay-per-view (PPV) library online, FreeCast is to deploy Zixi’s software-defined video platform (SDVP) for B2B distribution of its live linear channels over IP networks.
SDVP has been integrated with Google Cloud, using the Google Cloud infrastructure and platform capabilities, as well as Zixi APIs.FreeCast will use SDVP with SelectTV, its service designed for bandwidth distributors and device manufacturers, in order to help with live video delivery for the service’s clients. The software will enable FreeCast to adjust to varying network conditions and use forward error correction techniques for video transport over IP with what Zixi says will be minimal latency. SDVP will also provide DTLS and AES encryption, allowing for protected multicast transport and bandwidth efficiency. ....
