Extreme E inks deal with TV2 Hungary

With the launch event almost exactly a month away, the Extreme E, the all-electric off-road racing series, has  confirmed Hungary’s entertainment station TV2 will broadcast all five of this season’s X Prixs on its free-to-air linear channels, TV2, SuperTV2, Spiler 1 and Spiler 2.
The series will feature electric SUVs competing in extreme environments around the world – in Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Greenland, Brazil and Patagonia, places which have all been affected by the climate crisis - and is geared towards highlighting the impact of climate change and human interference in some of the most remote parts of the world. As well as highlighting a variety of environmental issues including, desertification, rising sea levels, glacier retreat, deforestation and ice melt, the series hopes to raise awareness of the climate emergency by mixing sport with purpose to inspire change. Discovery’s fourth-quarter earnings report beat forecasts early Monday, as the company also revealed numbers for its subscription streaming service.
The company reported earnings of 76 cents per share and revenue of $2.889 billion, vs. Street projections for per-share earnings of 72 cents on revenue of $2.83 billion.

During Q4, Discovery officially entered the streaming wars with the announced launch of a standalone streaming service of its own, Discovery Plus, which debuted on Jan. 4 in the current Q1 for $4.99 to $6.99 a month. VIZIO Ads launches glass-level frequency control

The direct-to-device advertising business of TV giant VIZIO, has unveiled Universal Frequency Control, a new capability designed to enable brands to set limits on how often a VIZIO TV within a household is exposed to specific ad creative when placing an ad through its platform.
VIZIO Ads says that its new universal frequency control product leverages inscape smart TV data to enable near real-time ad inventory management for connected TV campaigns. It is designed to solve what VIZIO says is one of the biggest problems plaguing the over-the-top (OTT) and connected TV (CTV) marketplace.
Universal Frequency Control is said to measure persistently the number of times an ad is exposed at the glass-level for each TV in a household across linear, CTV, video-on-demand (VOD) and OTT. With in-flight optimisation, brands can limit the number of times a VIZIO Ads media buy reaches a device per day, week or month. And, with control of an established ....

Cinedigm beefs up senior management

Just as it ratchets up the breath of its offer with a slew of strategic acquisitions, streamer Cinedigm has created two executive roles, SVP revenue and director of programming, to support its the growth of not only its core streaming offers but also and digital business.
In this light, Daniel Schneider has been named senior vice president of revenue and Eric Rowe has been named director of programming. Schneider will manage various streaming and channel business lines throughout their lifecycle by increasing monetisation and using data analytics to make business decisions regarding resource allocation. Previously, he was VP of business development for the digital business at news network Cheddar, leading all distribution across the TV and digital landscape.
