Nurses performed CPR on her after determining that Hoang had no pulse. Now recovered, Hoang, who grew up in Vietnam, says she has a new perspective on life. Cardiac arrest causes more than 436,000 deaths in the U.S. each year. A number of conditions can lead to cardiac arrest, including heart attacks, heart failure and an irregular heart beat.
