A Covid-19 patient who spent two months in an induced coma on a ventilator woke up to the news that he is going to be a grandfather.
Brian Fernie is recovering in a ward at University Hospital Hairmyres in East Kilbride after spending 67 days in intensive care battling coranavirus – 61 of them in a coma.
The experience so shook the 46-year-old from Cambuslang that he is now planning to marry his partner of 22 years.
Mr Fernie, who has mild asthma, was fit and healthy before catching the virus in November.

Daughter surprised Covid survivor dad with baby joy news after 'longest' ICU ward stay
THE daughter of a man who survived 10 weeks in intensive care suffering from coronavirus surprised her dad by telling him he would be a grandfather.
Brian Fernie, from Cambuslang, had one of the longest stays recorded in East Kilbride's University Hospital Hairmyres ICU, including 62 days in an induced coma breathing through a ventilator. 
The 46-year-old came out the other side, thankfully and has now vowed to marry his sweetheart, Lisa McCutcheon, hoping for a Gretna Green wedding in early June. 
His daughter Brooke, 20, delivered the good news by posting him a baby scan.
