Senate Mandates Justice Ministry to Unblock NEC's Certification of Lofa Senator-elect Samukai

The Liberian Senate has instructed Justice Minister Frank Musah Dean to withdraw the Solicitor General Syrinus Cephus’ communication to NEC instructing that body to suspend the certification of Lofa County Senator-elect Brownie J. Samukai.
It can be called recently, Liberia’s Chief Prosecutor and Solicitor General, Cllr. Syrenius Cephus, wrote the Chairperson of the NEC, instructing her not to certificate Lofa County Senator-elect Brownie Samukai whose conviction by the lower court was affirmed by the Supreme Court.
The Senate Plenary took the decision during Thursday’s session after a motion by Grand Bassa County Senator Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence, asking that August Body to mandate Minister Dean to retrieve the communication from the NEC latest this Friday. ....
