Located in the metropolitan area of Port-au-Prince, the capital city of Haiti, Cité Soleil is home to approximately 270,000 Haitians, most of whom live in abject poverty. Like its Bahamian shantytown replicas of The Mudd, Pigeon Peas, Sandbanks and The Farm, Cité Soleil is the site of thousands of unregulated structures, whose inhabitants live in unsanitary, squalid conditions. Haitian visitors to the shantytowns in Abaco would probably be shocked at the uncanny similarities between Haiti’s largest slum city and the aforementioned shantytowns. ....
