Council approves election results, Lubbock to become Sanctuary City for the Unborn The Lubbock City Council approved the results of the May 1 election during its council meeting on Tuesday. The Sanctuary City for the Unborn ordinance was overwhelmingly approved by Lubbock voters, with about 62.5% of the 34,260 voters supporting the ordinance. On election night, Mayor Dan Pope released a statement saying, On behalf of the city council, our duty as elected officials is to begin the process in adding the approved ordinance to the City of Lubbock Code of Ordinances, as directed by the Lubbock City Charter. ....
