CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY - Eight municipalities in the province of Lanao del Norte have been declared "drug-free" based on the assessment by the Northern Mindanao's Regional Oversight Committee on Dangerous Drugs (ROCDD) and verified by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Region 10 (PDEA-10). In a statement on Friday, the provincial government identified the declared drug-free were the municipalities of Linamon, Matungao, Magsaysay, Nunungan, Sultan Naga Dimaporo, Tangcal, Kolambugan, and Pantao Ragat. Governor Imelda Quibranza-Dimaporo said these municipalities will receive a cash incentive of PHP30,000 each, which can be claimed at the Provincial Treasurer's Office. "I congratulate and thank you for all your actions and support to make your respective communities drug-free. But, I am appealing that these measures must continue even without evaluations. During the weekly flag-raising Monday, Dr. Jerie Calingasan, provincial health officer and the provincial anti-Covid-19 task force chief, said this will provide a quick medical response for children who may experience severe side effects. The province has eight provincial hospitals that are located in the towns of Talisayan, Manticao, Magsaysay, Initao, Claveria, Balingasag, Alubijid and Gingoog City. All of the hospitals, Calingasan said, must also ensure that there is a pediatrician on duty to assist the vaccinated children. "This distinction is indeed a great privilege, yet, it underlines our great responsibility of protecting and conserving our underwater resources so that these will also be enjoyed and experienced in their pristine natural state by future generations," Tourism Secretary Berna Romulo-Puyat said Thursday as she welcomed the citation. This is the third consecutive year that the Philippines won the said award.
