A federal judge has barred the University of Florida from enforcing policies that aimed to block professors from testifying as expert witnesses in legal cases that involve the state government.
In ruling against the University of Florida's attempt to bar professors from testifying in a lawsuit against Florida's new election restrictions, U.S. Judge Mark Walker compared the university's actions to those of the University of Hong Kong in removing a memorial to Tiananmen Square protestors to placate the university's communist overlords. We must disabuse ourselves of the notion that authoritarianism cannot flower in the United States, especially when cloaked in the demagoguery of the "free state of Florida."
