Paganism is impossible to precisely define, but that doesn’t mean it’s anything anybody says it is. The irreligious and the none-of-the-aboves are not Pagan. Call them what they are and leave “Pagan” for those who actually practice Pagan religions.
The Gods I serve and who occasionally allow me to experience them directly have forbidden me from spending too much time in the Otherworld, much less staying there. I’m allowed to taste it. Occasionally. I can’t forget that taste. And I can’t stop wanting it.
We can honor our Gods and ancestors on our own. Some magic is best worked in solitude. But other magic is best worked in community. And sometimes, what’s most important is to be reminded that whatever we face, we do not face it alone.
There is only one certain answer to this question: we don’t know. Still, we can explore it and develop partial and tentative answers. They will never be complete answers. But they can be enough to help us understand our place in the universe.
