The Venice Symphony plans eight-concert season


During the last year, Quinn led a series of free digital programs featuring small, socially distanced ensembles performing from the Venice Performing Arts Center. President and CEO Christine Kasten said those programs reached a wide audience, but “there is nothing like the thrill of a live orchestra performance. We cannot wait to welcome everyone back safely to the concert hall in November.”
The organization’s 48th season will feature seven subscription series concerts leading up to “Songs From the Screen and Stage with Linda Eder,” a special program May 6-7.
It opens with “Brahms and The Boys” (Nov. 19-20) featuring Brahms’ Symphony No. 4 in E minor. Guest artist Thomas Hooten, principal trumpet for the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra, will perform Haydn’s Trumpet Concerto in E-flat Major. The program also includes the Beach Boys’ “God Only Knows” and Bedrich Smetana’s overture from “The Bartered Bride.” ....
