What happened to the artist once called the greatest Bolivian painter?
Bolivian artist Alejandro Mario Yllanes was rising to international fame when he mysteriously disappeared in the 1960s. Hidden from public view for more than half a century, his work is just now surfacing on the market, and Bowdoin College of Art has recently acquired two of them.
