one in 55 people in the uk are believed to have tested positive for coronavirus last week, that's more than 1.2 million people. the office for national statistics says figures show a similar levels of infection to the previous week, but there are signs that the number of cases could be flattening out. our health editor hugh pym has this report. are we going to go in the left or the right arm, sir? as people come forward for boosterjabs, here in marlow in buckinghamshire, and here at st helens rugby league ground, the hope is that the spread of the virus can be slowed down. there are very tentative views among expert modellers that there may be a downward trend for infections. it's very possible that cases may continue to go down over the next few weeks, but i'm also very aware that we saw this in september and then we did see a climb in cases again. so i'm probably not

than 1.2 million people. it comes as the drug company pfizer said its developed a new covid pill to be taken at the first sign of symptoms — that is eighty— nine per cent effective at preventing hospital treatment or death. here's our health editor hugh pym. are we going to go in the left or the right arm, sir? as people come forward for boosterjabs, here in marlow in buckinghamshire, and here at st helens rugby league ground, the hope is that the spread of the virus can be slowed down. there are very tentative views among expert modellers that there may be a downward trend for infections. it's very possible that cases may continue to go down over the next few weeks, but i'm also very aware that we saw this in september and then we did see a climb in cases again. so i'm probably not confident enough yet to say that this is definitively what we're going to see but if we continue to see this over the next couple of weeks, then i'll be increasingly confident that this wave is turning over.

all the right arm, sir? as people come forward for boosterjabs here in marlow in buckinghamshire, and here at st helens rugby league ground, the hope is that the spread of the virus can be slowed down. there are very tentative views among expert model is that there may be a downward trend for infections. it's very possible that cases may continue to go down over the next few weeks, but i'm also very aware that we saw this in september and then we did see a climb in cases again. i'm probably not confident enough yet to say that this is definitively what we are going to see but if we continue to see this over the next couple of weeks, then i'll be increasingly confident this wave is turning over. it's hard to read the data. the daily reported case numbers which cover people who have come forward for testing have been falling week on week. but an infection survey by the office for national statistics is based on household testing and includes those who don't have symptoms. it paints a broader picture.

The crash happened shortly after 5 p.m. on Highway 81, near the Glory Bound Church in Marlow.
Officers say Elton Colbert was killed in the crash.
Investigators say a car went left of center and was hit by a semi, which knocked the car off the road.
The semi then went north on the right lane, over the shoulder and hit another vehicle that was in a restaurant parking lot before landing in a ditch.

LAWTON, Okla. (TNN) - During tornadic weather, many turn to public shelters but, where are they and how are public shelters planning to protect people against severe weather and contracting COVID-19?
Stephens County Emergency Management official Gary Curtis said, for Stephens County residents, the public shelter is located in the courthouse on the ground level.
“Most all injuries and deaths occur from those being outside from flying debris,” he said, “not from actually in the homes themselves and that’s what we’re more concerned about because a lot of people wait until the last minute and the danger is a lot higher with them trying to come all the way here to the shelter.”

STEPHENS COUNTY, Okla. (TNN) - The Marlow woman who was arrested in connection to a murder and accused of running a puppy mill has been charged in Stephens County.
49-year-old Karen Jean Pritchard was accused of killing 31-year-old Ashley Nicole Anderson. Sheriff’s Deputies say they went to Pritchard’s home after receiving a tip about Anderson’s death.
They had to come back with a search warrant and found what they estimated to be around 200 animals. The condition the dogs were kept in caused them to launch another investigation into a possible puppy mill being run on the property.

MARLOW, Okla. (TNN) - The Humane Society of Tulsa says the animals rescued from a puppy mill in Marlow are receiving medical treatment.
Saturday morning the Humane Society of Tulsa arrived in Marlow to help rescue hundreds of animals living in deplorable conditions.
“Unfortunately a lot of the animals their hair was matted, full of feces, urine, and unfortunately some of those animals are having to be sedated to have it shaved off to get down to the skin to get them comfortable, to treat underlying infections that are there. A lot of untreated eye infections, a lot of untreated ear infections, skin infections, dogs with mange. A lot of medical conditions that are tied to repeated breeding,” said Humane Society of Tulsa President Gina Gardner.
