We are standing in the originally 18th century portion of the Maryland State House. Its also a space which between november of 1783 and august of 1784 was a home of congress then operating under the articles of confederation. Three of the most important events in the history of the United States took place in this room in that ninemonth period between november of 1783 and august of 1784.
