She replaces Amigene Metcalfe who stood down last month after three years in charge.
Araroa has signed a two year deal to lead the Magic, who finshed bottom the last two years.
She has previously coached the New Zealand Secondary Schools team, assistant to the Silver Ferns Fast5 team and was head coach of Waikato-BOP's National Netball League team in 2018 and 2020.
Araroa guided the former Northern Force franchise in the old domestic league in 1998.
"Over the past three years I have seen the growth from many of our athletes and I'm excited about how the Magic can move forward and what this opportunity brings," said Araroa.

NRL 2021, Melbourne Storm, Craig Bellamy signs new deal to stay with Storm

After turning down Brisbane and Cronulla to remain with Melbourne for a further five years, Craig Bellamy will advise Storm officials before the start of next season whether he will continue as head coach in 2023.
Bellamy, who had been agonising over his future since last year’s grand final defeat of Penrith, has committed to the Storm until 2026 but will make an annual call on whether he wants to remain in charge or move into a part-time director of coaching and commercial role.
The Broncos and Sharks offered him a similar position but Bellamy isn’t ready to step away from coaching just yet and he refused to rule out a quarter of a century at the helm of the Storm.

A week on from Australia’s thrilling 33-30 third Test victory against France in Brisbane, it felt like a good time to ask Rugby Australia’s Director of Rugby, Scott Johnson, about the importance of the series win for the Wallabies.
“There’s a what, and there’s a how,” Johnson explains, in an exclusive chat to
The Roar, on Friday. “What was done is that our young team got a series victory against high quality opposition. But how it was done was probably more important.”

Warriors captain bids farewell to the NRL

Roger Tuivasa-Sheck has played his last game for the Warriors.
The former Dally M player of the year will finish up with the club this week to enable him to return home before the New Zealand government completely pauses its Covid-19 travel bubble with Australia for at least eight weeks.

"We're hugely sympathetic to Roger's position," Warriors CEO Cameron George said.
"The government paused the travel bubble last week and announced it was giving New Zealanders seven days to return home. The reality is the border might be closed for more than eight weeks.
"Roger is going to rugby union with our blessing but if we require him to see out the rest of his contract he won't be able to return home until at least the end of September and maybe a lot later. It would seriously impact on his ability to make his start in union and we wouldn't want to see that happen.

Penrith legend believes Yeo more important than Cleary in title charge

Penrith legend believes Yeo more important than Cleary in title charge
Written by Tony Salerno on 18 July 2021
Penrith Panthers legend Scott Sattler believes lock Isaah Yeo is more pivotal than halfback Nathan Cleary to the club’s premiership hopes in 2021.
Yeo is returning from a successful Origin stint and will captain the Panthers while Cleary recovers from a shoulder injury.
“If Isaah Yeo is there, he is a little bit more important than what Nathan Cleary is.
“He is actually the vital cog, he is the spiritual leader in this side, and I’ve seen his game go to another level as well,” Sattler said.

The Melbourne Storm thrashed Newcastle 48-4 at Cbus Super Stadium on Saturday night to become the 12th team in league history to win 14 consecutive games.
The Storm also broke an 86-year rugby league record, surpassing the Sydney Roosters’ 1935 record for the most points scored after 17 games in one year.
It’s the 11th time Craig Bellamy’s side have scored 40 points this season.
Bellamy singled out praise for Jerome Hughes and Nicho Hynes who both starred in the 44-point mauling of the Knights.
“Hughesy just seems to be able to create something out of nothing,” Bellamy told reporters.

Storm CEO Justin Rodski says the “situation is not looking good” with increased COVID-19 restrictions expected to be announced in Melbourne today.
With the Storm scheduled to play their first home game at AAMI Park in 78 days this weekend against the Knights, Rodski says he’s working with the relevant authorities to work out if the game will go ahead as planned.
“It’s clearly not ideal, the current situation,” Rodski said on
SEN 1170 Breakfast.
“We’re monitoring it very closely, working closely with the NRL, the Victorian Government and health authorities to understand exactly what the landscape looks like in the coming days.
