Council Member Kathy Griswold, D-2nd Ward, reintroduced a resolution “to improve council effectiveness, performance and communications” at council’s May 3 meeting.

ANN ARBOR, MI After speaking out about an Ann Arbor City Council colleague’s use of a homophobic slur on Facebook, Travis Radina said he received anti-gay hate mail.
“This weekend, the fallout against our LGBTQ community continued,” Radina, who is openly gay, told his colleagues at the council meeting Monday night, April 19.

ANN ARBOR, MI Ann Arbor is moving forward with developing an unarmed public safety response program to have non-police professionals respond to certain 911 calls.
City Council voted unanimously in favor of the idea Monday night, April 5, directing City Administrator Tom Crawford to work with the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office and others to try to establish a program by the end of 2021.

ANN ARBOR, MI Ann Arbor City Council members have said they want to end personal attacks between each other.
But new council rules aimed at doing so have been the subject of debate for several weeks now.
As the controversy continued this week, one official summed it up as a “toxic political tornado.”
“I got involved in this with good intentions and I thought it was going to simplify some things, but I feel like it’s snowballed into some kind of toxic political tornado,” Council Member Kathy Griswold, D-2nd Ward, said of rules she and a majority of council OK’d to outline potential consequences for personal attacks and a process for redress of gri
