Thursday was Heroes Day at the Metropolitan Ministries Holiday tent. Community leaders and first responders volunteered their time to help those in need have a Merry Christmas.
When most people around the Tampa Bay area were still in bed this Thanksgiving morning, volunteers with Metropolitan Ministries were already busy preparing hundreds of meals for those in need.

But Brianna Butler and her five kids are thrilled about their recent relocation. They were one of the first families to move into SabalPlace, a low-income apartment complex in Seffner. "It is amazing having my own room," Butler told FOX 13. "Now my kids have their own room. We’re all excited." The grand opening of the complex took place on Friday. "For us, it was so exciting to see scores and scores of people move out of our shelter to come to this beautiful place," commented Metro Ministries CEO Tim Marks.

Metro Ministries is ready to administer the shots of the COVID vaccine to the homeless and their shelter clients and are just waiting, like everyone else, for the supply to catch up with demand. "We're pretty excited because we have applied to be a vaccine agent for the state of Texas and we have received that approval and we have ordered our first doses of vaccine" says Patty Clark from Metro Ministries.
