Belarus home to about 9.35m people as of early 2021 MINSK, 9 April (BelTA) – About 9.35 million people lived in Belarus at the beginning of the year or roughly 60,600 fewer than one year before that, BelTA learned from a population statistics report released by the National Statistics Committee of Belarus. The report specifies the number of people as of 1 January 2021 and the average population number broken down by oblasts, districts, cities, and towns. The report also offers population numbers of the two previous years, which were recounted taking into account the population census. The figures are broken down by territories. As of the beginning of 2021 Belarus was home to 9,349,645 people while the figure was at 9,410,259 in early 2020 and at 9,429,257 in early 2019. The average annual population number totaled 9,419,758 in 2019 and 9,379,952 in 2020. The figure does not take into account direct calculations due to the inclusion of the town of Mezhdurechye (a rural populated locality) into the city limits of Novopolotsk.
