ANN ARBOR, MI - After four years of arguing he should have access to the papers of anti-immigration activist John Tanton housed at the University of Michigan because they are a public record, a Virginia-based attorney will get to make his case in an upcoming trial.
The Michigan Supreme Court ruled in a dispositive order Friday, April 9, affirming by equal division of the court in a 3-3 vote a 2019 decision by the Court of Appeals that said the sealed off records should be considered public record.
