Westminster took the win for the alpine team in the regional championship race, while solid skiing and career-first podiums were shared across teams. Giant slalom Following the postponement of the final RMISA men’s GS race due to unsafe conditions, the men competed first on the morning of Feb. 18. The early morning competition wasn’t a FIS-U or USSA race, but would count as an official RMISA race to be used in the RMISA team standings and NCAA qualification.

Utah expanded its lead on its home hill amid heavy snow and poor conditions that led to a canceled race. The Utes came into the race with a big overall lead after a strong performance from their Nordic team. Junior Katie Parker led the Utes in a snowy first race on Thursday, Feb 11., to finish in sixth down the iconic 2002 Olympic venue. With soft conditions and a volatile finish field, Utah had a consistent performance on their home venue and were able to capitalize on a sunny second race for junior Sona Moravcikova to step into fourth.

DU back on top with refreshed roster, but Utah pulls ahead in overall standings The NCAA circuit resumed in Utah for back-to-back RMISA Invitationals hosted by Westminster and University of Utah on Monday and Tuesday. Following a pair of slaloms at Snowbird, the University of Utah extended its lead in the overall going into the final RMISA races of the season, while a refreshed roster at the University of Denver (DU) provided the school its first team win of the season. Snowbird greeted seven collegiate teams over two days for double slalom races in tough snow conditions. The women kicked off the series with back-to-back races on Monday with University of Denver’s (DU) Amelia Smart taking home both wins.
