HC upholds Centre's decision to include all medical devices as drugs

The Delhi High Court has upheld the decision to classify all medical devices as "drugs" under the law regulating drugs and cosmetics. The court rejected petitions challenging the government's notifications declaring certain medical devices as drugs and extending the classification to cover all medical devices. The court stated that the inclusion of all medical devices as drugs was a policy matter and found no arbitrariness or unreasonableness in the decision.

The order by the Department of Security at AIIMS said the Union Health Ministry's National Guidelines for Fire Safety in Healthcare facilities mandates hospitals to undertake comprehensive fire safety audit involving a third party.
