Tony Iommi Relives Dio Era's Best Pranks, Oddest Song + More

Heaven and Hell and  Mob Rules — signaled the remarkable rebuilding of a wayward band and one of the finest moments in metal's history concerning a change in singer. With two massive remastered reissues on the horizon, Tony Iommi was gracious enough to speak with us about this pair of timeless releases. These records are historic for many reasons beyond the impressive comeback that came with them. It was a time of complete reinvention of the Sabbath sound, which in large part was due to the band's willingness to relinquish some control and ease off self-production while linking up with t...

On this rehearsal recording of ...

Deluxe Editions of Dio-Fronted Black Sabbath Records Set to Drop in March

By Jon Rogo Jan 16, 2021 7:30 AM Ronnie James Dio joined Black Sabbath in 1979 which resulted in two back-to-back killer records: “Heaven And Hell” and “Mob Rules”. On those memorable albums, Dio’s soaring tenor and gothic songwriting were the perfect foil for the band’s bone-crushing mix of razor-sharp riffs, intense grooves, and dark imagery. Rhino salutes the long shadow cast by this short-lived lineup with newly remastered versions of both albums expanded with rare and unreleased music. “Heaven And Hell: Deluxe Edition” and “Mob Rules: Deluxe Edition” will be ...
