We were doing the story about an opposition type newspaper in istanbul. What it was like to run a newspaper that felt free to criticize the regime when so many other papers were being cracked down on and what it was like to be in that position. And the coup started suddenly our story took on a different dimension. It turns out the editor we were writing about is one of the people on their list of people they dont like post to. Postcoup theyre cracking down more on opponents. Theyve never been great with journalism. Its been tough to have a free press in the country. They basically is not a free press in turkey.
