 In Pakistan, a college teacher was sentenced to ten years in jail for a supposed blasphemous lecture presented in class on January 8, 2021. According to Aljazeera news, judge Raja Jawad announced the decision based on the charges filed in 2017. Another anti-terrorism court sentenced three to death for social media posts deemed insulting to the Prophet Muhammad under Pakistan’s blasphemy law.
In June 2020, Tahar Ahmed Naseem was shot in a courtroom hearing in Peshawar for claiming he was the Prophet, Muhammad. Medan, N Sumatra (ANTARA) - Several asylum seekers from Afghanistan, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Iraq held a peaceful rally in front of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) office in Medan, North Sumatra, on Friday, seeking swift resettlement in third countries.
We have been staying in Medan for seven years. I, myself, have been here for eight years, the rally s coordinator, Muhammad Zai, notified local journalists in this capital city of North Sumatra Province.
During that long waiting period, the UNHCR officials had yet to repatriate them for the settlement program in any of the destination countries, such as Australia, New Zealand, the US, and Canada, Zai remarked. ....
