Removal of Delaware County's sixth circuit court still moving forward

MUNCIE, Ind. The plan to cancel the upcoming sixth Delaware County Circuit Court is still moving forward through the Indiana General Assembly despite the house version of the bill failing to find a sponsor from the senate.
The state legislature last year approved plans for the court, which would begin operations in January 2023. However, legislation proposed during this session would repeal the court s creation.
Current plans, unless the court is called off, would have Circuit Court 6 replace the Muncie City Court.
Beyond issues with the existing city court not being a court of record, plus transportation issues from the new jail, overwhelming case loads in the other circuit courts have been cited as a major reason for the creation of an additional circuit court. ....

MUNCIE, Ind. Two local residents have been arrested in the early Sunday slaying of a Muncie man.
Morgan Loueez Bell, 26, and Brandon Charles Hodge, 28, both were preliminarily charged with murder in the shooting death of 33-year-old Robert Eugene Scott III.
Deputy Police Chief Melissa Pease confirmed the arrests shortly after 1 a.m. Monday.
Delaware County emergency dispatchers received a report of gunshots in the 2200 block of West Ninth Street at 4:38 a.m. Sunday.

MUNCIE, Ind. A Muncie motorist who fled from police insisted his vehicle was traveling at only 100 mph, not 110, as an officer had suggested.
Albert James Dietz, 36, was arrested about 7 a.m. Sunday on preliminary counts of resisting law enforcement in a vehicle, reckless driving and driving while suspended.
City police said they were traveling behind a Honda sedan driven by Dietz, traveling about 40 mph, when it ran a red light at Liberty Street and Memorial Drive.
When officers activated their patrol vehicle s emergency lights, the Honda accelerated and ran another red light at Memorial Drive and Gharkey Street. ....
