India reports 3.79 lakh COVID-19 cases, death toll rises to 3,645

New Delhi: India saw a record single day rise of 3,79,257 new coronavirus infections pushing the total tally of COVID-19 cases to 1,83,76,524, while active cases crossed the 30-lakh mark, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Thursday.
The death toll increased to 2,04,832 with a record 3,645 daily new fatalities, the data updated at 8 am showed. ....

N440K mutant could reinfect recovered Covid-19 persons: DAK

Srinagar, Apr 24 (KNS): With the detection of N440K mutant in Kashmir, Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) on Saturday said people who have recovered from Covid-19 could be reinfected with the mutated strain of the novel coronavirus.  
“Those who have got Covid-19 infection could get sick again with the new variant,” said DAK President and influenza expert Dr Nisar ul Hassan.
“The N440K mutant that is dominant in some of the Indian states has found its way into the valley,” he said.
Quoting research conducted by the Kurnool Medical College in Andhra Pradesh, Dr Nisar said N440K variant can escape the immune response and can cause reinfection. ....
