Randolph Senior Adult Association introduces technology classes


Ginger Flynt is a self-taught technology wizard who has been using the computer since 1985. As a senior, she understands the struggles that others may have regarding setting up an email or using Google.
As an education and communications coordinator for Randolph County Senior Adults Association, she is proud to oversee a technology class that leaves people with "aha" moments. 
The class offered by a CARES Act grant was a huge opportunity for the association to serve seniors by getting them involved with technology. At the same time, giving them the ability to go online to keep in touch with family, friends and explore the internet.

Human rights tribunal hearing ordered for Indigenous nurse who received workplace threats

An Indigenous nurse says she is relieved there will be a human rights tribunal hearing into her allegations that Alberta Health Services did not act on racist abuse from her co-workers, and placed her on leave and reassigned her rather than address a toxic work environment.

He was born June 6, 1934, in Mancos to Thomas and Laura Nelson.  
He attended grade school in Leadville and the Maysville country school.  
Many of his later growing-up years were spent on ranches in the Salida area.  
He graduated from Salida High School in 1952.
Mr. Nelson enlisted in the Navy, serving honorably from January 1953 to January 1957.  
Most of that time was spent on a ship in the Pacific during the Korean War.  
He returned to Salida where he met and married Nancy Henderson. They were married July 4, 1957.  
Mr. Nelson worked at the Climax mine at that time.  
The couple’s first child, Sheryl, was born in Salida.

William Lee Nelson, known as Bill, a long-time resident of Buena Vista, passed away peacefully at his home on April 30.
Bill was born to Thomas and Laura Nelson in Mancos, June 6, 1934. He attended grade school in Leadville and the Maysville country school. Many of his later growing-up years were spent on ranches in the Salida area. He graduated from Salida High School in 1952.
Bill then enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving honorably from 1953-57. Most of that time was spent on a ship in the Pacific during the Korean War.
He returned to Salida where he met and married Nancy Henderson, his wife of 63 years. They were married July 4, 1957. He worked at the Climax mine at that time.

LPGA Foundation Announces 2021 LPGA Leadership Academy Schedule | LPGA | Ladies Professional Golf Association



DAYTONA BEACH, Fla., April 12, 2021 – The LPGA Foundation, whose mission is to empower, inspire and transform the lives of girls and young women through the game of golf, announced today a three-event LPGA Leadership Academy schedule for 2021.
The schedule will cover the breadth of the United States with two-day academies taking place in Michigan, California and New Jersey. Each LPGA Leadership Academy will host 40 girls aged 13-18.
"The 2021 LPGA Leadership Academy schedule is fully funded by donations from our sponsors, enabling us to offer each two-day academy at no cost to those selected to participate," said Nancy Henderson, president of the LPGA Foundation. "We are committed to empowering, inspiring and transforming the lives of girls and young women through the game of golf, and we are very excited about the impact that the LPGA Leadership Academy has already had on those who have participated in the program."

Mar. 16—Steilacoom has said goodbye to its longtime mayor after he announced his resignation for medical reasons earlier this month.
Ron Lucas held the mayoral seat for more than two decades.
Town Administrator Paul Loveless said the symptoms of Lucas' illness appeared in January.
Loveless did not disclose details of Lucas' medical condition, and Lucas declined to be interviewed for this article.
Town council members and community leaders agreed that his successor has big shoes to fill.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla., February 16, 2021 – The LPGA Foundation announced today a partnership with Mocha Moms, Inc.to raise the visibility of the game of golf to more individuals, particularly mothers and girls of color, with a core purpose of being inclusive and promoting healthy living through golf events.
Mocha Moms began as a group of women who published a newsletter with the hopes of connecting Black mothers who were altering their professional careers to dedicate more intentional time to raise their families. It quickly turned into hundreds of local chapters across the country and now serves as a national sisterhood, service, and support organization for mothers of color whatever their professional choices.
