An unusual rescue effort for this time of year saved four people who became stuck on a sandbar this morning in southwest cedar rapids. A road is also back open that fire and police had to block off for the water rescue. Police found four people had gotten their boat style atv stuck in Prairie Creek near the intersection of j street and Hawkeye Downs road southwest. The people were able to get off the boat and to safety on a sand bar. The Fire Department then used inflatable boats to bring them to shore.
