Democracy at work defining this friday partly but also the disaster of war, and with that, we begin. It was 70 years ago today when the Second World War ended here in europe. On may 8, 1945 officers of the german army signed the Unconditional Surrender of the nazi regime in berlin. We were not to berlin to see the commemoration of the liberation of the city. In the process we found out about the huge human price paid by the liberators of germany. It was a day of solemn remembrance.
